Questions
Straight answers before you call.
The questions we get most, answered the way we’d answer them on the phone.
Why did my spring break?
Torsion springs are rated in cycles, and one cycle is one open and one close. Most builder-grade springs are rated for about 10,000 cycles, which works out to seven to ten years for a family that uses the door a few times a day. Austin’s heat, humidity, and rust shorten that, and so does a door that’s out of balance. Springs rarely warn you; they let go with a loud bang, usually while the door is closed.
Should I replace both springs?
If the door has two springs and one broke, yes. They were installed together, have the same cycle count, and the second one is usually weeks or months behind. Replacing both in one visit means one service call instead of two, and the door gets balanced with a matched pair. We quote it both ways and the choice is yours.
Can I fix the spring myself?
No, and we’d say that even if we weren’t in the business. A wound torsion spring on a two-car door stores enough energy to break bones or take off fingers when it’s released the wrong way, and the winding bars, spring sizing, and bearing work all have to be right. The videos make it look simple; Austin emergency rooms see the results. With the right springs on the truck, it’s about an hour’s work for us.
How long does a repair take?
Most spring, cable, sensor, and opener repairs take 45 minutes to an hour and a half once we’re on site. Off-track doors and opener replacements can run two to three hours. The truck carries the common parts, so almost every job is finished on the first visit.
Do you charge for the trip?
The service call is $79, and it covers the drive, the inspection, and an upfront quote. If you approve a repair during the same visit, the $79 is waived. You never pay for the trip and the repair separately.
Do you repair LiftMaster, Chamberlain, Genie, and Craftsman openers?
Yes. Those four brands cover most of the openers in Austin, and we carry drive gears, trolleys, capacitors, logic boards, safety sensors, and remotes for them. We also work on Linear, Overhead Door, Marantec, and most other brands. If a part has to be ordered, we tell you before any work starts.
Do you work weekends?
Saturdays, yes, from 7am to 7pm, the same as weekdays. We’re closed on Sundays. If your door is stuck on a Saturday, call before 5pm and we’ll get there the same day.
What’s your warranty?
Every repair comes with a 1-year labor warranty. Standard springs carry a 3-year warranty and high-cycle springs carry a 7-year warranty. If a part we installed fails inside that window, we come back and make it right at no charge.

Stuck? Call now and we’ll give you a time window today.
Open 7am to 7pm, Monday through Saturday. Upfront quote before we start.
